Adult Education: Midrash, The Torah, & Us

Rabbi Segal's winter adult education course in Aspen.

“Midrash, the Torah, & Us”

Tuesdays beginning January 16th, 1-2:30pm at the Aspen Chapel

How does Midrash (traditional parables and “historical fiction” commentary on the Torah) help us to understand the Torah, the people in it, and ourselves?  By filling in the “white spaces between the black letters” of our scroll with imagination, creativity, and questions, the rabbis of the Midrash left us incredible gifts of knowledge and intellectual curiosity.  In this 4-session series, we will dig into some of the most interesting, surprising, insightful, and meaningful Midrashim, experiencing together the playful engagement of ancient, medieval, and modern rabbis with our central text.   No prior knowledge necessary; attend all 4 sessions or drop in as you can!  RSVP preferred to jessica@aspenjewish.org.  Questions?  Contact Rabbi Segal rabbisegal@aspenjewish.org
